Criminal Injury Compensation

If you have been the innocent victim of crime then there is a government run body called the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority, which can pay out compensation to innocent victims of crime. Even if the perpetrator of the crime has not been caught or brought to justice, a successful claim can still be made. Please note though, that you have only 2 years to bring a criminal injuries compensation claim and the incident should have been reported to the police.

What do you need to know?

A few things that you also need to know about bringing a criminal injuries compensation claim in front of the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA). Firstly the CICA do not pay your legal costs and therefore you have a choice to bring the claim yourself or you can instruct us here at 121 Accident Management and we will appoint a solicitor on your behalf. The solicitor we appoint will take your case on a 'contingency basis' which means that you do not need to pay their costs unless the claim succeeds. The payment your solicitor receives is an agreed percentage of any award for damages that is made to you by the CICA. However, if your application is unsuccessful, then you pay nothing towards their costs.

So if you are unfortunately a victim of crime, then you may find that you are entitled to make a criminal injury compensation claim, but time is of the essence so don't delay as there are strict time limits in place. So why not give us a call on 0800 9886 121 or fill in the form on the Right Hand Side of this page and we will get back in touch with you at a time to suite yourself to discuss your case.
